Iranian Emerging Artists (IEA) was developed in July 2015 to discover and present the works of young and emerging Iranian artists on an Instagram page. Its original idea was to use a popular, democratic, free, and image-based online platform to enable hearing different voices from the Iranian young artists at the lowest cost. While both real and virtual galleries and showrooms in Iran have undergone unprecedented growth in recent years, they only reflect a limited portion of the huge and dizzying volume of artistic creation, merely based on the limited disturbing and misleading policies and tastes. Therefore, creating an opportunity to present and exhibit different works with different tones, even at a limited extent and size such as a page on a social network, could create a hope, though small, toward young and progressive art display.
With such an aspiration and goal, some works that reflected a curatorial approach and perspective to the different and young art of recent years and were necessarily an indicator of the beliefs and tastes of their creators were selected to be exhibited and presented on this page. A set of the emerging, creative, productive and experiential artists’ works were also exhibited. To this aim, attempt was made to consider all the different perspectives as well as stylistic and conceptual orientations, only on the condition that they possess characteristics that reflect diversity, quality, originality, and innovation in the works so that they can find a chance for being watched and introduced, though on a small and simple scale.
Now, after four years, what had started out just as a small move is seeking its chances for meeting the same goals and aspirations on a larger and more structured scale, but as a specialized website in cyberspace. The IEA hopes that it can add to its previous efforts and continue to provide a dynamic arena for introducing and supporting the brilliant art of young Iranian artists by providing more opportunities and expanding its activities such as information, education, and sales of artwork to the maximum extent possible.
